Bangladesh Railway has planned to limit its operation to combat coronavirus outbreak, most likely to suspend the local trains for now.
Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujon held a meeting to discuss the suspension at Rail Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday (Mar 18).
However, the ministry has not finalized the decision yet.
Railway Secretary Mofazzel Hossain said, “Advance tickets will now be available five days prior to departure, instead of ten days.”
Till today, Bangladesh has recorded two deaths and 27 infections from Covid-19, a pandemic announced by the World Health Organization.
More than 13,000 people have died and over 308,000 infected due to the pandemic across the world, according to Worldometer.
