BD asks Myanmar to send back drug dealers

BGB-BGP border conference held in Dhaka from Jul 9 to Jul 12, 2018.Negotiation between Bangladesh and Myanmar is underway to bring back drug dealers who fled to the neighbouring country to avoid crackdown here.
“We are preparing a list of drug dealers and it will be handed over soon,” said Border Guard Bangladesh official Brigadier General Md Mojibur Rahman.
He was responding at a joint media briefing after attending a meeting with a delegation of Border Guard Police of Myanmar Thursday.
In his written speech, Rahman mentioned that both the governments expressed concerned about drug problem.
Both of us agreed to cooperate in combating drug smuggling, he said.
Myanmar side informed the press that both the governments set up liaison offices on the borders and the relationship would increase in the coming days.
A large number of Bangladeshis are addicted to yaba which is smuggled to the country from neighbouring Myanmar.
