BGB-BGP border conference held in Dhaka from Jul 9 to Jul 12, 2018.Members of a Myanmar Border Police delegation have shown an angry reaction when they were asked about the atrocities committed against Rohingyas.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar Thursday had a meeting followed by a joint briefing in Dhaka where local journalists asked the foreign guests about Rohingyas
The Myanmar delegation refused to answer the question and some of them stood up saying ‘objection’.
Trying to cool down the situation, BGB Additional Director General Brigadier General Md Anisur Rahman said, it was not among the meeting agenda.
Terming the Rohingya crisis as a big concern, Rahman said, “We had talks on border security issues, it is being discussed in locally and internationally.”
A four-day border conference between BGB and BGP ended on Thursday in the capital.
Rahman led the 15-member Bangladesh delegation, while 11-member Myanmar delegation was led by its Chief of Police General Staff Police Brigadier General Myo Than.
Officials from both the parties agreed to hold the next such senior level border meeting in Jan 2019 in Naypyidaw.
