The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained over 100 people in an anti-drug raid at Dhaka’s Mohammadpur.
People from different walks of lives, including 12 females have been held in the six-hour raid, from around 5am on Friday (Mar 22), at the Geneva Camp.
“The Geneva camp, known to be one of the hubs of illegal drugs in Dhaka, was entirely sealed-off during the raid conducted by over 500 members of the RAB,” said the elite police unit’s spokesperson Mufti Mahmud Khan while talking to media after the raid.
“Children from the camp are being used in drug peddling,” Khan said adding, “At least 10 yaba dealers and several others drug traders who are now on bail have been arrested.”
“A large haul of narcotics including yaba tablets, hemp, phensedyl were seized during the raid,” added Khan.
