Ex-DRU president Anwarul Haque dies

Anwarul Haque. File Photo/BSSFormer president of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Anwarul Haque died at his Dhanmondi residence in the capital on Friday (Mar 22) morning, reports state news agency BSS.
He had been suffering from different complicated diseases for long, sources said.
Anwaul, ex-chief reporter of The Daily Star, is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
He served as the press minister at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and a founder member of Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB).
Anwarul was buried at Azimpur Graveyard in the city on Friday afternoon following two namaz-e-janazas (funeral prayers) at Sobhanbagh Mosque and Dhaka Reporters Unity.
DRU President Ilias Hossain and General Secretary Kabir Ahmed Khan expressed deep shock at the death of Anwarul Haque.
In a condolence message, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
