Two passengers have been detained at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with 3,000 tablets of methamphetamine-based contraband yaba in their stomach.
The airport police and Narcotics Control Department detained Mamun Mallick, 31 and Md Jabul Sheikh, 30 after receiving a tip off, said Airport Armed Police Additional Police Superintendent Alamgir Hossain on Thursday (Mar 21).
They boarded a Novo Air flight to Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar with Tk 900,000 worth of the drug, sources said.
They added that an X-ray revealed 2,000 tablets of yaba in Mamun’s 1,000 tablets in Jabul’s stomach.
The airport police station is preparing to open a case against them under the Narcotics Act.
