Policeman gets 2 years for demanding bribe from HC judge family

A policeman has been sentenced to two years in prison for on charged of demanding bribe from the family members of a High Court judge.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-9 Judge Hafizur Rahman gave the order on Thursday (Mar 21) in presence of the accused, suspended assistant sub-inspector Sadequl Islam.
According to the case dossiers, Islam went to HC Division Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman’s home to verify the passport documents of his daughters on Aug 23, 2016.
He then demanded Tk 2,000 from Rahman’s wife for the work.
A case was filed with Shahbagh police on Aug 31 and the Anti-Corruption Commission filed a charge sheet against him on May 4, 2017.
