Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. It’s accused that by breaking rules, two officials were given appointment at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The posts in question are one section officer and one protocol and liaison officer. The vacancy advert for section officer underlined in its requirement, a person with a BBA degree or 4/5 years Honours, or Masters with three years Honours along with a minimum second class.
However rules can be relaxed for department candidates and people with experience, the advert added.
It also mentioned that a candidate can be evaluated for six months before she is made permanent.
However, Abdus Sobhan, the person given the job does not have a Masters. Also, the liaison and protocol officer, Md Ismail Hossain, was initially taken as a temporary computer operator. The complaint is that though Ismail is not a permanent member, his application was given preference since he is already working.
In addition, there are other discrepancies regarding the fulfilment of educational qualifications.
Professor Jawadul Huq, head of the appointment board, said: “Appointment is not final; it will be done by the university syndicate.”
The decision about appointment will be taken at the syndicate meet, he added.
Current principal of the Rajshahi Medical College, assistant professor, Md Naoshad Ali admitted irregularities in appointment, saying: “Since certain academic requirements were not fulfilled, these appointments will not be deemed valid.”
