Waste treatment gives water for daily use, fish cultivation.Water is received after purifying liquid waste accumulated in the Matuail Landfill of the Dhaka South City Corporation. Specialists have said that though this water cannot be consumed, it can be used for daily work.
While DSCC is working to purify the water further, fish is being cultivated in it.
The DSCC landfill is twice the size of the DNCC landfill.
Constructed in 1990, over 50 acres of land, it was increased to 100 acres in 2005-06 fiscal year.

In the past, waste used to end up in cultivable land but things changed after the lisset treatment plant was established in 2008 with financing from JICA.
One pond collects the lisset which smells foul and filthy, while in another pond, the treated water is used for fish cultivation.

As part of the project, an incinerator will also be constructed with two compartments: one will hold general while the other, electronic waste.
The burnt detritus of the electronic waste will be used to manufacture coal, to be used as Refused Derive Fuel. Specialists feel that power will be created in the waste burning process and this will meet 5-6 megawatts of power demand.
