International Crimes Tribunal (Bangladesh)International Crimes Tribunal (Bangladesh)The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT ) ordered death sentences for Ishaq Shikder and four others for 1971 war crimes.
The four others are Abdul Gani Haqlader, Abdul Awal alias Moulvi Awal, Abdus Sattar Pada and Sulaiman Mridha.
The three-member ICT headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam read out the 159-page verdict on Monday.
On Sunday, the court scheduled the verdict delivery.
They have been convicted of atrocities like murder, mass killings, abduction, torture, arson and rape in Patuakhali during the 1971 War of Independence.
With the latest one, the ICT has delivered as many as 34 verdicts on war crimes cases.
According to the prosecution, all the accused were involved in the politics of Convention Muslim League and joined the infamous Razakar Force during the 1971 Liberation War.
The first charge against them was to kill 17 villagers after torturing them in confinement and torch at least 12 houses after looting them at village Itbaria of Patuakhali Sadar thana on May 4, 1971.
The second charge was to abduct of 15 women from Itbaria village on the same day and take them to the Circuit House camp where they were tortured and raped for next 10 days.
Their trial ended on May 30 while they were indicted on March 8, 2017.
Eleven prosecution witnesses were examined during the trial.
