An additional Tk 14 billion has been approved for the Padma Bridge — the largest infrastructure project Bangladesh is implementing with its own funds.
The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) cleared the additional funding on Thursday, taking the total cost of the project to Tk 301.93 billion.
The additional fund will be spent on acquiring another 1,162.67 hectare of lands, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told the media after the ECNEC meeting.
On Thursday, the ECNEC gave the green light for a total of 15 projects costing Tk 183.72 billion.
The state will fund Tk 98.28 billion for the projects with another Tk 65.58 billion coming as foreign assistances while the implementing agencies will fund the remaining Tk 5.88 billion.
