Shahrin Ahmed.A survivor of the US-Bangla airplane crash in Kathmandu on 12 March, 2018, Shahrin Ahmed, still gets terrified whenever she is on a plane approaching descent.
In that accident, 51 persons were killed.
On Sunday, 10 March, Shahrin Ahmed, talked to Bangla Tribune. She said: “I went to Nepal alone and when the pilot did not land after several attempts was a bit puzzled.”
When the plane finally landed, it titled to the left; I cried out and in seconds, the craft smashed to the ground, recounts Shahrin.
The plane skidded for a bit and then caught fire.
After smoke filled the inside, a fellow passenger and I started to scream to let fire fighters know that we were alive.
There was fire on my hair and clothes and dousing them I put my head underneath the seat.
After the crash, it took about 25 minutes to rescue us, she said.
“I came back on 16 March and took treatment at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for 25 days.”
I am still haunted by the images of the crash, she added.
