Bogura-7 MP Rezaul Karim BabluRezaul Karim Bablu is the MP for Bagura -7 (Gabtali-Shahjahanpur) and was elected on Dec 30, 2018, as an independent candidate. He is accused of taking money from people with promises of giving jobs and concealment of information.

If the allegations are proved then he may lose his membership of parliament.

He is also accused of deception and fraud using different names.

Case documentsAt the 11 national parliament election, Rezaul Karim Bablu was an independent candidate with the symbol of a truck. Since BNP did not have a candidate there, the support of the BNP went to Bablu and he beat Jatiya Party candidate bagging 190,000 thousand votes.

At the election declaration, he mentioned journalism and trade as his profession, showing Tk 5000 as yearly income, which comes to Tk 417 per month. But, within two months after the election, he bought a Tk 3.2 million car.

Bablu claims that his car was a present from wealthy friends. Locals say that the car was a bribe from brick kiln traders who got special facility from Bablu.

ChargsheetIn 2007, a case was lodged against him for taking money from a person, giving false promises of a job.

Reportedly, he took Tk. 280,000 thousand from two persons in 2006, promising to ensure employment as technical teachers. One person who was duped, says: “Bablu could not give the job and never returned the money.”

He is reported to use different names and as the founder of Shahjahanpur Press Club, is known as Showkat Ali Golbagi.

Bogura secretary for good governance body SUPRO, KGM Faruk, says: “by concealing information from the declaration, he has deceived the people and so, anyone can take action against him.”
