Hundreds of cars on either side are crossing the rivers in the 10 ferries since Sunday (Oct 6), said Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA),
They said that two ferry terminals at Daulatdia are at the risk of being damaged due to the strong currents at River Padma.
BIWTA Daulatdia terminal Manager Abu Abdullah said that since two terminals are at the risk of being damaged, they are not being used.
Daulatdia launch terminal superviser Mofazzal Hossain said that the launches are unable to operate against the strong currents at the river.
“Launch operations were halted since Friday afternoon for safety after orders from the higher authority,” he said.
He added that ferry operations were also halted and have resumed since Sunday.
