She made the statement while speaking at a media conference at the university on Tuesday (Oct 1).

Meanwhile, the university students were continuing their protest from where they gave an ultimatum to the VC to voluntarily resign.

On Monday, the protestors said, if the VC does not resign by Tuesday, they would impose an all-out strike across the university on Wednesday and Thursday.

“We gave time to the vice-chancellor to resign with dignity. Except for the teachers supporting her and the Chhatra League, everyone demanded the same,” Socialist Student Front (Marxist) President Mahatir Muhammad said while addressing a human chain protest on Monday.

“But she did not pay any heed to that within the given time. We are ashamed of the fact that she has added the stain of corruption to this university,” he added.

Teachers from several departments were present at the human chain.

The same faction of Jahangirnagar University students has been staging demonstrations since August 25 demanding a judicial investigation of the VC.

Allegations of corruption have been raised against Dr Farzana involving a major development project of the university.
