A schoolboy has died and at least 20 other persons have been injured when a picnic bus plunged into a ditch on Rajbari-Kushtia highway.
The incident was reported around 3am on Thursday (Aug 16) from Durgapur Bus Stand area in Rajbari’s Kalukhali Upazila, said police.
The deceased has been identified as 14-year-old Shamim Hossain.
“A Meherpur-bound picnic bus from Kuakata plunged into a road side ditch after its driver lost control over the steering as he fall asleep, leaving Shamim dead and 20 others injured,” said Rajbari Fire Service and Civil Defense Deputy Assistant Secretary Saokat Ali Joarder.
“The injured have been admitted to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex,” added the fire service official.
