RepresentationA couple along with their two children have died after the private car they were travelling in was hit by a bus in Mymensingh’s Gouripur.

The deceased are Rafiqul Islam Jibon, 46, owner of Bangla Tex textile mill in Narsingdi, his wife Nazmun Nahar Shahin, their son Nadim, 20, and daughter Rono Akhter, 15, residents of Durgapur in Mymensingh’s Susang.

Two other people were also injured in the accident that occurred in Gouripur’s Ramchagol area on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj route around 10 am on Friday (Aug 16).

Quoting witnesses, Gouripur police station Officer in Charge Kamrul Islam Mia said that a Kishoreganj‑bound bus coming from the opposite side hit the private car in Ramchagol area, killing Nazmun Nahar Shahin on the spot.

Jibon’s nephew Anisuzzaman said that his uncle had come to spend the Eid holiday with his family at his in-law’s house in Ishwarganj’s Kanarampur village and were on their way to attend a wedding in Mymensingh when the accident occurred.

Six others injured in the accident were rushed to the local health complex where doctors declared three of them dead, the OC said.

The unidentified private car driver and a child who were injured in the accident have been shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital after their condition deteriorated.
