Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gopal Chandra Das has stood by helpless and poor farmers.
On Tuesday (May 21), Das along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Khondokar Forhad Ahmed and Additional Deputy Commissioner (overall) Mohammad Yahya Khan were on their way to inaugurate the collection of Boro paddy.
On their way, they saw a woman called Zebunnessa harvesting paddy and stopped the car to help her in the work.
The farmers of the area were also very happy to see the district administrator giving a hand. When the news spread, upazila parishad chairman and UNO also came to join in the harvesting.
Zebunnessa was facing difficulty in cutting the paddy on 15 kathas of land as she could not afford to hire workers.
So, she along with her son started to cut the paddy. Then the district administrator and his colleagues helped her in completing the work.
DC Gopal Chandra Das, says: “We are also sons of farmers and feel honoured to be able to stand by them at this time; farmers face temporary crisis and I hope that with the rice collecting drive we shall be able to raise the price and give them the right price.”
