Moktar Hossain. File PhotoA police constable in Madaripur has been arrested for allegedly trying rape a school student.
Moktar Hossain was arrested and sent to court on Tuesday (May 21) before being withdrawn from duty, confirmed Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police (sadar circle) Badrul Ahmed.
According to locals, Moktar Hossain lived with his pregnant wife in a rented house in Madaripur’s TB Clinic road.
On Sunday (May 19) he called the school student who is his neighbor to his house and locked the doors.
When the locals realized this, they asked him to open the door at which point he pushed the girl out through the ventilator.
Locals rescued the injured girl to Madaripur Sadar Hospital who said that Moktar tried to rape her and beat her up when she resisted.
Madaripur Sadar Hospital doctor RMO Shashank Chandra Ghosh said that the fall through the ventilator broke one of her legs.
“It’ll take around two-and-half months to heal,” he said.
SP Badrul Ahmed said that Moktar has been withdrawn from duty and a two-member committee has been formed to probe the matter.
