Rajshahi city Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton said that while the country has seen infrastructural development, there has been an erosion of social and human values.

As a result of decay in moral values, the youth are veering towards terrorism, drugs and militancy, he said on Monday (Mar 4) at a programme organized by Rajshahi University.

At the event, MP of Rajshahi-2 Fazle Hossain Badsha, said, “The youth will lead the country in the future and therefore need to be imbued with the ideals of Bangabandhu.”

Human Rights activists Sultana Kamal said, “The reason for the erosion of morals is due to a lack of proper direction.”

“To know the right path, the young have to know the accurate history of the liberation war plus understand the value of a society marked by harmony, secular values, peace and justice,” she added.
