Police in Savar has recovered a body who was the prime suspect in a gang-rape case.
Body of Ripon (39) was recovered from a field inside Amin Model Town at Khagan area in Savar late on Thursday (Jan 17), said police.
Local people spotted the body on Thursday evening and informed Savar police. Later, the bullet-ridden body was recovered while a paper note was found hanging on body’s neck saying, “ami dhorshon mamlar mul asami (I am the prime accused in the rape case”.
“Ripon was the prime suspect in the rape case,” Ashulia police OC Jabed Masud told Bangla Tribune.
However, Savar police OC Abdul Aowal said, “The body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy.”
Police was unable to describe details over the matter.
On Jan 5, a readymade garments (RMG) worker was reportedly gang-raped and a day after the victim breathed her last while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Later, victim’s father filed a case over the incident with Savar police naming five suspects including Ripon who was also a RMG worker.
