BGB-BSF to begin joint patrol at Rajshahi border

A flag meeting led by BGB sector chief Mushfiqur Rahman Masum and BSF sector chief Kunal Mazumder with a 20-member delegation from each side took place on Thursday (Jan 17) at Rajshahi’s Godagari border.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) had a flag meeting in the backdrop of increasing trend of border killings, drugs including yaba smuggling, and arms trafficking.
In the last two months, five Bangladeshis were killed in the border while arms smuggling have increased in the last two years. In January, arms smugglers opened fire to BGB personnel.

In the flag meeting, held at Godagari in Rajshahi on Thursday, both the forces agreed to work sincerely to curb the border crimes.

The meeting was led by BGB Rajshahi Sector Commander Colonel Mushfiqur Rahman Masum and BSF sector chief Kunal Mazumder.
Masum said we agreed to jointly patrol River Padma in the Rajshahi border in a bid to stamp out smuggling and other illegal activities.
