Former MP's son landed in jail

Representational illustrationA Kurigram Awami League lawmaker’s son has been sent to jail for assaulting an Executive Engineer at Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board.
Police arrested Zahedul Islam Sabuj, youngest son of Md Jafor Ali, from the district city’s Notun Rail Station area on Thursday (Jan 10) noon.
“Sabuj was arrested following a case filed on Wednesday (Jan 9) and court ordered to send Sabuj to jail after he was produced before the court later on the day,” said Kurigram Sadar police OC Md Mahfuzar Rahman.

The plaintiff in the case, General Manager of Kurigram-Lalmonirhat Palli Bidyut Samity (Rural Electrification Association) Swades Kumar Ghosh, said, “Sabuj was creating obstacles during local electrification process and to make an end of the crisis the victim informed the matter to Sabuj’s family.”
It made Sabuj angry and he rushed to the sadar rural electrification office where he along with his associates physically assaulted the executive engineer around 2pm on Tuesday (Jan 8), he said.
After taking first aid, the victim filed a written complaint to me later of the day and left Kurigram, he added.

The case was filed with Kurigram police station naming four people and 10 to 15 unidentified others on the complaint of the victim, he added.

OC Md Mahfuzar Rahman said that they are hunting down the other accused.
