Two ‘drug peddlers’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘shootout’

Two alleged drug peddlers have been killed in Cox's Bazar in what the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) described as shootout.
The incident was reported in the early hours of Tuesday (Nov 20) from the district’s Teknaf Upazila, said RAB.
The deceased are Ashik Jahangir, 32 and Arif Hossain, 30.
“Acting on a tip-off, RAB placed check-posts at Keruntali area on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Highway. The elite force officials asked to stop a truck when it reached at the scene. The driver tried to flee from the spot with the truck and opened fire at RAB. RAB also fire back and at one stage the truck stopped. Two bullet-ridden bodies were rescued from the truck and rushed to Teknaf Hospital where the doctor declared them dead,” said RAB-7 captain Mirza Shahed.
“Later, 100,000 yaba tablets, two weapons and eight rounds of ammunition were seized from the truck,” added the elite force official.
