Three ‘JMB militants’ held in Dinajpur in a raid on early Friday.Police have detained three suspected activists of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Dinajpur.
The arrests were made during a raid around 12.45am on Friday at the district’s Rajbari area, said Dinajpur Superintendent of Police Syed Abu Saem at a media briefing on Friday noon.
The arrestees are Abbas Ali, Abdur Rahman alias Pintu and Abdur Rahman alias Babu.
“Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at the eastern region of Sukh Sagor Dhighi area and detained three activists of JMB,” Syed Abu Saem told Bangla Tribune.
“They were plotting to stage subversive activities from their absconding state,” he added.
A gun, 5 round of ammunition, bomb-making materials, explosives and jihadi literatures were seized in the drive.
The police claimed that the three militants were involved in a murder attempt of Italian citizen Dr Piero Parolari in Dinajpur, the attack at ISCKON temple in Kaharole, a militant attack in Dinajpur and the attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in the capital’s Gulshan.
