Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a youth with 40 gold bars in Benapole.
The arrestee has been identified as Shajib Hossain, 19, who was caught red-handed in Friday (Oct 26) morning while attempting to smuggle the gold weighing 5 Kgs which are worth at least Tk 25 million, said BGB.
On a tip-off, a BGB team led by Benapole Sadar Camp Commander Nayeb Subedar Haradhon conducted a raid and apprehended Shajib with the gold bars.
A motorbike was also seized from him.
Lt. Colonel Ariful Haque of 49 BGB Battalion said that Shajib has been handed over to the Benapole Port Police.
