Nine dead as bus collides with truck in Panchagarh

As many as nine people have been killed in a collision between a bus and a truck on Panchagarh-Tetulia highway in the northern district of Panchagarh, police said.
The tragic incident was reported from Dashmail area of the district’s Sadar Upazila at 8:15pm on Friday (Oct 26).
Two of the deceased were identified as Lovely, wife of Saidul Islam, and their son Yamin of Jot Hasna in the upazila.
Sadar police OC Akkas Ali told Bangla Tribune, “The accident happened as a Panchagarh-bound truck, carrying concrete electricity poles, collided head-on with a Tetulia-bound bus, coming from opposite direction, killing six people on the spot.”
Police, firefighters and locals rescued the injured and took them to the state-owned hospital in the district from where some of them were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Three others succumbed to injuries on their way.
Most of the victims hailed from Bhajnpur and Banglabandha in the upazila, police said.
