The Hili border between India and Bangladesh has become a hub of activity with the Durga Puja – the biggest religious event of the Hindu community. Hundreds of people are crossing the border from both sides to meet relatives.
One woman going to India through the Hili border, says: “I am going to India to see the Puja celebrations.”
BGB camp commander, subedar, A T M Mostafa Kamal, told Bangla Tribune: “many people are going to India to meet relatives for Puja and some are coming to visit the border areas.”
Hili immigration, OC, Abdus Sabur, says: the number of people using the border crossing has risen due to Durga Puja; there’s an atmosphere to celebration.”
Revenue income has also risen, he added.
