A mail train en route to Mymensingh from Chattogram has derailed, causing temporary disruption to rail communications.

The incident was reported from Mymensingh’s Balashpur area around 4:30am Friday (Oct 19).

Mymensingh Rail Station super, Jahurul Islam, said: “the train left Chattogram for Mymensingh at 3:30pm Thursday (Oct 18). One of the compartments of the train went off track during early hours on Friday.”

A rescue train reached the scene at 7am Friday and the crew is working to get the train back on track, he added.

He hoped that rail communication will resume by 12pm Friday.
