Gono-forum president and convener, Dr Kamal Hossain, has asked all citizens to take part in a concerted effort for national unity.

“The government’s task is to serve the people; if they do not understand this, it’s the duty of the citizen to make them (the government) realise its role.

Dr Kamal made the comments at the Jashore Press Club while on his way to take part in a rally in Khulna.

Citizens’ awareness is essential to safeguard human rights, ensure good governance, said Dr Kamal and added, “it’s also the duty of the citizens to make sure that a country is run as per the constitution.”

The masses have no reason to feel helpless, he assured.

Citizens should play a role so the administration, economy plus social systems are for their benefit, added the seasoned politician.
