A total of 142 convicts in different cases were freed from Sylhet prison between Sunday and Monday after court ordered their release in respective cases.
Senior Jail Super of Sylhet Central Jail Abdul Jalil said, “We received release orders of 142 from the court on Sunday evening and 73 of them including 7 women were released at 9:30pm.”
“36 of them were discharged and rest of 106 got bails on different term,” he added.
Jalil said that, these people were offenders in cases filed under police act and on charges of snatching and burglary among others.
