The government will set up tax offices at all 492 upazilas across Bangladesh, says Francine Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
“Tax ceiling won’t rise rather the manpower of National Board of Revenue (NBR) will be increased to collect revenue,” he said on Thursday (Feb 7).
Speaking at a views-exchange programme in the city’s Agargaon, Kamal said, “The government has set a target of 2.96 trillion in revenue collection.
“We have to achieve the target without making anybody suffer. Revenue will be collected in a win-win situation. We need to increase revenue collection to boost up the country’s development,” he said.
On banks’ defaulted loan, the minister said, “It will be reduced otherwise the banking sector will grow weaker.”
Kamal said banks’ lending rate will be cut down to do business easier.
Citing step would be taken for capital markets, the minister said, “Tax payments for stocks will be reduced to single phase from three phases.”
