Mobile banking suspended for polls

FILE PHOTO/Mehedi HasanThe Bangladesh Bank has suspended mobile phone-based financial services ahead of the 11th national election slated for Dec 30 in line with the Election Commission’s instruction.


In a circular sent to top bank officials on Thursday (Dec 27), the central bank has instructed mobile banking service providers to halt all sorts of transactions from 5pm on Friday (Dec 28) to 5pm Sunday (Dec 30).






It, however, said service providers can allow a personal account holder to transact at a limited scale up to Tk 5,000 from 5pm on Friday (Dec 29) to 5pm on Sunday (Dec 30).
