Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon speaks to mediaThe Bangladesh Cricket Board will open legal procedures against all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for signing a deal with a mobile operator violating the terms and conditions of the BCB.

“He will not be spared,” its President Nazmul Hossain told the media on Saturday (Oct 26).

Grameenphone announced on Tuesday (Oct 22) that Shakib joined them as their brand ambassador to ‘inspire and build an empowered digital society’.

The deal was signed a day after cricketers went on a strike, which ended on Wednesday (Oct 23), to press home their 11-point demand to the board.

BCB's players' agreement stipulates that a cricketer under national contract cannot join a telecom company.

“The telecom companies are very well aware [of the clause] as well as the cricketers. I have no idea why Shakib did it. But still, we will give him a chance to defend himself. But let me make it clear that cricketers can’t sign deals with a telecom company in line with the terms,” the BCB president said while speaking to reporters at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at the capital’s Mirpur.

Responding to a query, Hossain said that there’s was “no question of sparing” Shakib.
