Opener Tamim Iqbal has withdrawn himself from the India tour citing personal reasons, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced.
In a media statement on Saturday (Oct 26), the board has also confirmed that a replacement for Tamim will be announced soon. However, speculations were rife that Imrul Kayes is getting the call.
BCB had brought in Imrul to the preparation camp but he hasn't officially been announced as the replacement opener for now.
Tamim informed the BCB of his unavailability for the tour, which includes three T20s and two Tests in India in November, citing the expected birth of his second child as the reason for his withdrawal.
Tamim missed Bangladesh's home Test against Afghanistan and the T20I tri-series after requesting for a break from all cricket following Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka in July.
