Bangladesh Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan is seen at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka’s Mirpur on Saturday (Oct 26).

Bangladesh Cricket Board is set to show-cause all rounder Shakib al Hasan due for his endorsement deal with mobile operator Grameenphone.
A Bengali daily quoted BCB president Nazmul Hasan saying on Saturday (Oct 26) that they will take actions against the Test and T20 skipper if he fails to come up with a plausible explanation.

Grameenphone announced on Wednesday that the ace all-rounder has joined them as their brand ambassador to 'inspire and build an empowered digital society'.

According to BCB's players' agreement, a cricketer under national contract cannot sign deals with a telecom company without the board's clearance.
"He cannot sign deals with a telecom company and the reason for it is clearly stated in his contract," Nazmul told a Bengali daily.
"[Mobile operator] Robi was our title sponsor and Grameenphone did not bid and instead they signed deals with a few cricketers of Tk 1 or 2 crores [10 or 20 million]. So, the board lost Tk 90 crores [900 million] in three years ... It can't happen again."

The board will open to legal actionsw, he said.
"We will seek compensation from the company as well as from the player. I heard about it [on October 23] and instructed to send a legal notice to Grameenphone for compensation. I also instructed to issue a letter for Shakib seeking hi explanation as well," he said.
Meanwhile, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said they were not aware about the Grameenphone - Shakib deal, though cricketers under national contract must take permission from the board for commercial interests.
"'We had no knowldege ... Usually what happens is, we do not encourage players to have any commercial deal with a company that can lead to conflict with the national team sponsor," said Nizamuddin.
"Right now we have Unilever as our national team sponsor but the deal is expected to end soon. If any of our players are endorsing any telecom company, then the other telecom companies will not be interested to bid for the national team," he told to an Indian media outlet.
