EC extends Awami League’s deadline to file audit report

“Seven out of 39 political parties registered with EC missed the deadline to submit audit report and sought time extension,” EC Deputy Secretary Abdul Halim said on Monday (Aug 6).
The Commission granted them another 15 working days.
“The EC will write to the seven parties over the extension today (Monday),” said the official.
The six other parties are Sangskritik Muktijote, Bangladesh Jatiya Party, Bangladesh National Front, Ganatantra Party, and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP).
According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), political parties registered with the commission have to submit its financial details of the previous year by Jul31.
On Jul 31, the BNP submitted its annual financial statement, showing Tk 41.97 million in its reserve.
