Ganaforum Chairman Dr Kamal Hossain on Monday said hooliganism prevails in the country, not democracy.
“I don’t want to live amidst this menace. I want to sacrifice my life to get rid of this menace. I want someone to shoot me. Then I can say, I die protesting the evil,” he said.
He was speaking at a ‘protest and solidarity’ programme held at the National Press Club in the city on Monday. The Concerned Citizens organized the programme.
Kamal said those who went to the streets with sticks don’t belong to any student organization.
“They are only miscreants who attack innocent people,” he said.
The constitutional expert said Inspector General of Police is not the servant of the government, rather he is accountable to the state.
The programme was presided over by Dr Zafrullah and attended by Bikalpadhara Chairman Dr AQM Badruduzza Chowdhury, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam, Nagorik Oikyo Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, among others.
