FILE PHOTO/Syed Zakir HossainRuling Awami League (AL) has named Sakhawat Hossain Shafiq as its organising secretary and distributed duties of the parity's joint and organising secretaries for the eight divisions.
A former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Rajshahi University unit, Shafiq was nominated for the post by AL chief Sheikh Hasina, a party statement said on Thursday (Jan 4).
With his appointment, the total number of AL organising secretaries now stands at eight.
Hasina also distributed duties upon the newly elected joint general secretaries and organising secretaries, the statement said.
Among the joint-general secretaries, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif has been tasked with overseeing party's organisational activities in the Sylhet and Chattogram divisions with Dipu Moni putting in charge of the Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions.
Hasan Mahmud will helm the organisational activities in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions while AFM Bahauddin Nasim will look after its affairs in Khulna and Barishal divisions
Organising Secretary Ahmad Hossain will oversee party activities in Chattogram, BM Mozammel Haque in Khulna, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Shopon in Rangpur, SM Kamal Hossain in Rajshahi and Mirza Azam in Dhaka, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel in Mymensingh and Sakhawat Hossain in Sylhet.
ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING ON JAN 12
The newly-formed Advisory Council of AL will hold its first meeting on Jan 12, the statement said.
The meeting will begin at 10:30am at the party chief's Dhanmondi offices in Dhaka, it added.
