Awami League leader Amir Hossain Amu speaking at an event for the ruling party's Dhaka South mayoral candidate Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Thursday (Jan 9).The BNP is looking for a way out of the elections to the two Dhaka City Corporations as it fears defeat, says senior Awami League leader Amir Hossain Amu.
“The BNP is scared of the Dhaka City corporations elections,” he said during an event for the ruling party's Dhaka South mayoral candidate Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Thursday (Jan 9).
“BNP has already accepted defeat because they know that they can’t win. That’s why they are making new excuses every day,” said Amu, who sits on the party's panel of advisers.
He added BNP’s complaints indicate that they might boycott the city polls like the national elections.
He said that people should vote for Taposh because he aims to provide the citizens with their rights and a corruption and addiction-free Dhaka.
