The new LDP announces its council in a extended meeting at a Dhaka hotel on Monday (Dec 2)Oli Ahmed-led Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has officially split for what the leaders of the breakaway faction said was due to the "autocrat party chief".
At a special extended meeting at a Dhaka hotel on Monday (Dec 2), leaders of the faction announced the new party with the same name 'Liberal Democratic Party'.
Convener of the new faction Abdul Karim Abbasi said, “Oli’s fascist attitude has forced us to form the new party.”
“Twelve years ago, 35 lawmakers left BNP and joined LDP with the hope of democratic practice in organization,” he said before calming that Oli disregards differences of opinion in the party.
"We are forming new committee excluding him,” he added.
Member Secretary of the new faction Shahadat Hossain Selim said they would stay with BNP led 20-party coalition and consider Jamaat-e-Islami as an ally.
Oil can be the chief again if the party leaders want him during the upcoming council, Selim added.
The new LDP faction announced a council preparation committee with Abdul Goni as the convener, Mawlana Khaled Saifullah, Syed Ibrahim Rawnak and Jakir Hossain Riaz as the joint conveners.
