AL publicity and publication secretary, Dr Hasan Mahmud said that coal stealing at Barapukuria began during the tenure of BNP in 2005.
The present government has caught the culprits; investigation is ongoing and those who were involved in coal pilferage in 2005 will also be exposed, he said at a discussion organised by the Independence Council at the National Press Club on Friday noon.
Meanwhile, BNP senior joint secretary general, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, termed the Anti Corruption Commission’s report on Barapukuria an ‘eyewash’.
Incidents of mega irregularities only happen during this government, accused Rizvi.
In a sharp retort to Rizvi’s comments, Hasan Mahmud asked how a party, whose leader is serving jail term for corruption, can afford to make such lofty observations.
I call on the BNP to give an electoral programme instead of indulging in terrorism, vandalism and arson, said Mahmud.
