Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the 10th national council of the ruling Awami League’s affiliate body Krishak League, being held after seven-long years.
The premier, also the Awami League president inaugurated the council at 11:10 am at Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday (Nov 6).The venue, where security has been beefed up is teeming with activists in festive moods, chanting slogans.
The secretary of Krishak League’s existing central committee Dr Abdus Salam Pramanik told Bangla Tribune that they want a leadership in the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“We don’t want anyone involved with graft and crime to be in the leadership,” he added.Activists said that around 7,000 councillors and 9,000 delegates along with two foreign guests are attending the council.
Krishak League was established on Apr 19, 1972. Despite the 16 councils supposed to be held, only six took place with the last one being on Jul 19, 2012.
