Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was at painting exhibition arranged to honour Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina at capital`s Suhrawardy Udyan on Friday (July 20, 2018). BANGLATRIBUNE/Sazzad HossainDue to unprecedented development of the country under the able leadership of prime-minister, Sheikh Hasina, AL will be riding the waves in the next general elections, said road, transport and bridges minister, Obaidul Quader.

The minister made the comment Friday to the media at a painting exhibition arranged to honour Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.

In politics the, tide follows an ebb and flow pattern. After the killing of Bangabandhu, AL were in ebb for 21 years; the same situation was noticed during BNP’s regime and when the caretaker government was in power, said the minister and added: “today, we are in power and have carried out development which is praised at home and abroad.”

Bangladesh has achieved such laudable records due to the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

Once BNP was in flow, now they are in ebb, I cannot say if their present condition will change or not.

However, I feel that AL’s current flow will help them ride on top of the waves in the next election.

Talking about all party participation in the elections, he said: “we have never said we will not hold all party elections; taking part in national polls is the democratic right of a political entity.”

But AL won’t try to pull or convince anyone to participate in the election, came the unequivocal declaration from the veteran AL politician.

Dismissing the possibility of any pre-election dialogue with BNP, he asserted: “dialogue is not needed; there’s no impediment to holding the polls.”

No one can provide BNP the guarantee to win, he observed.
