Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Mahi B Chowdhury – two influential leaders of Juktafront – have decided to float separate campaigns to boost the four-party alliance.
The coalition, named “Juktofront” (United Front), consists of Bikalpadhara, Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and Nagorik Oikya, was launched recently.
Manna of Nagorik Oikya will start a campaign against state corruption while Mahi of Bikalpadhara Bangladesh will create a platform ‘New Generation Initiative’. Both the leaders hoped that they would get support from the like-minded political parties.
Campaign against state corruption
Manna is scheduled to float the online campaign on Tuesday.
“It will be an online campaign to protest the gross corruption in the country,” said Manna.
Explaining why the campaign is online-based, he said, at present it is difficult to hold meeting or gathering.
One needs to bribe Tk 7 to 8 lakh to get a public job while every year one trillion taka is being flown out of the country illegally, he said.
New generation initiative
Joint secretary general of Bikalpadhara Bangladesh Mahi is planning to float the initiative to give a boost to the Juktofront activities.
University teachers, journalists, movie stars, young bankers and others will be incorporated in the initiative.
It will coordinate political activities of the Juktofront and arrange media coverage and look after creative work including develop poster and design.
Mahi said it would unite the young generation and bring a balance in the country’s politics.
