A negotiation between the government and the BNP is inevitable, says senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmad.
“The government has to come on negotiation with BNP to hold an all-incisive election and the polls can be held only after Khaleda Zia’s release,” he said on Saturday.
Reiterating the call for deploying army with magistracy power in the general election, Moudud said. “The Election Commission has showed its true colours by the Gazipur and Khulna city polls.”
“Parliament will have to be dissolved 90 days before the polls and this Commission needs to be reconstituted,” said the BNP National Standing Committee member.
The quota reform movement has no political affiliation, said Moudud describing it as a ‘spontaneous movement’ by the students and job-seekers.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Apr 11 in the parliament, said quotas will be abolished. But, on Jun 27, she took a U-turn saying it will continue,”
“So, how do we trust her?” Moudud said urging the prime minister to keep her words on quota reformation.
