BNP senior joint secretary general, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, said that BNP will not take part in an election held under current prime-minister, Sheikh Hasina.
He made the comment while talking to the media at BNP Naya Paltan office on Friday.
The PM told her party members yesterday that the next national election will be competitive with BNP taking part, observed Rizvi and added: “but BNP will not participate in an election held under the present prime minister.”
The BNP leader also called on the government to resolve the ongoing crisis involving quota reformers.
Addressing the government, he said: “please ensure proper academic atmosphere; release the ones linked to the quota reform movement and arrest those who attacked protesting students.”
Claiming that the country does not have a conducive environment for a free and fair election, the BNP leader, said: “BNP will not take part in election without Khaleda Zia.”
No election under Sheikh Hasina was free, fair and neutral, he stated indignantly and demanded election to be held under a non-party neutral government.
Rizvi announced city wide agitation campaigns to protest government decision to not allow BNP to hold a protest rally and staying of Khaleda’s bail.
We have also not received any permission for the token strike slated for July 9, added the BNP leader.
