The party's local activists, followers, and supporters have been in the way of Chittagong to greet BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia as she is traveling from Chittagong to Cox's Bazar. Besides, it has been learned that in some places students of schools & colleges have also been placed on the streets to welcome Khaleda Zia. Apart from the crowd, passengers are suffering in some areas of the city for want of public transport. Mass people have been suffering due to limited movement of vehicles.
On the way of the journey, more than a hundred women and frauledn were seen waiting wearing yellow sari with flowers. In some places, the BNP leader's picture was seen hanging on the bridge with the necklace of flowers.
Thousands of BNP leaders and activists have raised slogans on the arrival of Khaleda Zia; while on the other hand, some people were seen walking to reach their destination. It is seen when Khaleda Zia’s motorcade was passing the Shah Amanat Bridge over the Karnaphuli River.
SI Alamgir Hossain, Karnaphuli Police Station told the Bangla Tribune, 'People of Patiya and Banshkhali areas of Chittagong used to travel over the Shah Amanat Bridge. Due to the arrival of the BNP chairperson, the BNP leaders and activists stayed on this road of the Shah Amanat Bridge and it slows down the movements of the vehicles or stopped at some places. It causes sufferings for pedestrians.
In some places of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar, school and college students were seen standing on the streets wearing their institutional uniforms. Students of Patiya Abdus Sobhan Rahat Ali High School and Patiya Government College have been brought to the streets to welcome Khaleda Zia.
It is to be noted that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia left Chittagong Circuit House for Cox's Bazar at 12.15pm. On his arrival, BNP leaders and supporters were on both sides of the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar highway.
