BNP has announced protests for Apr 7 to press its demand for party chief Khaleda Zia’s release.
“Leaders and activists of the party will observe a 6-hour hunger strike at the city’s Institute of Engineers’ Bangladesh premises,” said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Ahmed Rezvi.
Speaking at the party proagmme at BNP Nayapaltan headquarters, Rizvi said they have sought clearance from the authorities for the event.
BNP will arrange special prayer across the country seeking the recovery of Khaleda who is now undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), said it’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Calming Khaleda hasn’t been receiving proper treatment at jail, Mirza Fakhrul said they repeatedly requested the government to allow her being admitted at private hospital.
“But, the government took her to BSMMU rather paying heed to us,” he alleged.
“Medical tests find Khaleda is very sick,” said Mirza Fakhrul.
