Expelled Gano Forum member Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed has hailed his former party fellow Mokabbir Khan for his decision to take oath to his office as a lawmaker.

“Mokabbir’s decision to take oath is a timely one to establish parliamentary democracy and rule of law. On behalf of the people of the country, and myself, I congratulate him.” Mansur, who was elected a lawmaker on Gano Frorum’s ticket said in a Facebook post.

Mansur and Mokabbir contested the 11th parliamentary polls under the  banner of Jatiya Oikya front with BNP’s ‘paddy sheaf’ and Gano Forum’s ‘rising sun’ polls logos respectively.

On Tuesday (Apr 2), Mokabbir was sworn in by Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury a day after he wrote to her seeking a berth in parliament.

On Mar 7, Sultan Mansur took oath defying Gano Forum’s decision and was later banished from the party.

Mansur, won the Moulvibazar-2 seat in the Dec 30 polls while Mokabbir was elected from Sylhet-2.
